“Sorry. I can just tell when you are lying so I pry.” she replied with a laugh. Stella smiled and nodded. “Yeah he is. Obsession with looks will do that to you.” she said, eyeing him. She always loved to pick on Sam as much as she could. He did the same thing to her. It was how they worked. Two peas in a pod. As Sam reached for and grabbed her hand, Stella glanced down at her hand then up at him. Catching his eyes. Staring. “Alright” she replied.

“I’m not obsessed. I just like to look good” he said nodding. “You’re the one that don’t care about my good looks” he teased. They used to pick each other all the time. His room was very bright and it was near the dream lab, so it was quiet. He glanced her and then let his head lay back, staring the ceiling. ” What shall we do?” he asked using his fake british accent.

“You are such a liar. I know you didn’t like it.” she said, “Let me guess, too freaky for you?” Stella laughed loudly and rolled over onto her back but still looked at her friend. She smiled softly as their eyes met. The two had been friends for a while. Stella didn’t exactly like him at first for no real reason at all so she didn’t let him in. But eventually he grew on her. He was very nice and actually listened to her. It was nice and different. “Yeah, sure..I almost forgot.” she said softly. Her head nodded slowly as she looked up at him as she still lay there. Not moving.

“Could you please not read my mind?” he said playful. “It’s nice, but the guy is freaky” he confessed smiling. She was still laid on his bed and didn’t show any sign that she wanted to move. “Or we could stay here…”  Sam suggested reaching her hand.

Glancing at the cover of the book, Stella jumped in excitement. “Oh, that is a really good book! How do you like it so far?” she asked. She had read Dorian Gray twice and loved it. It was so dark and eerie. It always freaked her out when it got to the very end. That’s the price some people have to pay to live forever. “If I say I am reading Pride and Prejudice will you hate me?” she asked. Stella loved the book. She couldn’t help it. It was one of her all time favorites. A classic, an absolute classic. Plus the guys still knew how to treat a lady right. Stella rolled over onto her stomach and propped herself up on her elbows. Putting her face in the palms her her hands she gave Sam a huge smile.

He looked at her over the book. Sam didn’t know what he was thinking about it. It definitely was interesting and a good reading, but the characters just seemed so crazy. How could Dorian be so crazy for his own looks? Everybody gets old. “It’s ok, I guess. Good book” he said closing it and glancing her directly in her eyes. Since Samuel got in Cresswell, he met Stella. She was hard at first, but he discovered that she was a real sweetheart. He couldn’t had met better person. “Do you want to eat?” he asked, nodding his head to remove his thoughts.

Stella waited at the door for a few minutes. She knew he was in there. She could hear his thoughts. Not that she was prying or anything. She couldn’t help it. Plus Sam was her best friend. It’s not like he would be too mad even though they did just have a talk about her using hr powers on him. He was reading. “Well that’s…different.” she thought. She waited a few more minutes and then heard him holler through the door. Stella rolled her eyes and reached for the door knob. She let herself in and shut the door behind her.

There was Sam; laying on the bed, shirtless, reading a book. “Well don’t you look comfy?” she said. Stella tossed her handbag on the side table and hopped onto his bed. She looked over at the book then at him. “Whatcha reading?” she asked.

He laughed while she hopped onto his bed. “The picture of Dorian Gray” he said rising the book a little to show her the cover. “And you?” he asked “Because I know you’re reading something. And please, not pride and prejudice again” he mumbled the last sentence. That was the only book he saw her reading more times than he could possible count. He looked at her over the book.

Reading a book gave you a chance to immerse yourself into a whole different world. You could be anyone or anything you wanted to be. A dashing knight, a crazy old inventor, a princess locked in a tower, or a poor orphan girl who must clean the house. Literally anything you could imagine. That’s why Stella enjoyed it so much. It gave her something to keep things off her mind. She didn’t need to think as much. Closing her book and putting it on her side table, she swung her feet off the bed and onto the hard wood floor. It was chilly under her skin. Slowly she stood and slipped on her flip flops and grabbed her phone. Then she proceeded to grab her bad and head for the door. She was going to go to Samuel’s dorm to see if he was ready. They had a lunch date and were in need of some serious catching up. It felt like forever since she had last seen her friend. Stella shut the door behind her then head off down the hall. In no time she was in the boys dormitory building and in front of Sam’s door. She gave three loud knocks and then waited with a huge smile on her face.

Sam listened to the door but he didn’t want to rise from bed and get it. He was reading a very interesting book and even thought he had a lunch date with Stella, he wanted to finished that part, at least that chapter.

He was laid in the bed shirtless, the book upon his legs. He nodded, thinking if he could control her for a moment, but he knew Sam couldn’t do that without she notice. He had only one choice. “Come in” he yelled behind the book.

I guess… I don’t know them, anyway. And you?

I’m not exactly looking so I wouldn’t know.

Come on, Stella, it’s time to get you a boyfriend.

Okay, like who?

Good question. No one here deserves you.

Oh yeah? And why not?

You’re too good for them, baby.
